Reeves celebrates 50-year Navy partnership at Stennis
Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves posted on Facebook that he was at NASA’s John C. Stennis Space Center to mark 50 years of partnership between Naval Oceanography and the U.S. Navy, and he thanked service members for their work.
Reeves said in the post, “It’s a beautiful day to be at NASA’s John C. Stennis Space Center celebrating 50 years of Naval Oceanography and U.S. Navy partnership. Thank you to all our Sailors and Marines for your service. We appreciate you! 🇺🇸”
The John C. Stennis Space Center, located near Bay St. Louis in Hancock County, Mississippi, is a NASA facility that hosts rocket engine testing and other research and supports collaboration with federal and military partners. Naval Oceanography provides ocean and atmospheric data to support naval operations and scientific research.
The milestone highlights a long-standing relationship between federal science agencies and the military that helps inform operations, testing and research. Reeves’ post reflects a broader pattern of political leaders recognizing military partnerships and regional federal facilities.
