Gov. Reeves visits communities impacted by storm in Alcorn County

Gov. Tate Reeves said he visited communities affected by a recent storm, stopping first at a warming center in Corinth in Alcorn County, according to a Facebook post. He wrote that soldiers, emergency responders, medical professionals and local emergency managers were “doing an outstanding job serving their fellow Mississippians.”

Warming centers provide temporary shelter, heat and basic medical assistance to residents displaced or left without power after severe weather, officials and emergency-management organizations say. Reeves’ post thanked those on the front lines, saying, “Thank y’all for what you’re doing for our state and her people!”

Reeves, as governor of Mississippi, oversees the state’s emergency response efforts and often visits affected areas to assess needs and coordinate resources with local officials. Alcorn County is in northeast Mississippi and communities there have periodically used warming centers following storms and winter weather events.

The governor’s visit underscores ongoing collaboration between state and local responders during storms and other emergencies. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
