Severe weather threatens Mississippi overnight
A Facebook post warned that the entire state of Mississippi is at risk for severe weather beginning Sunday evening, March 15, 2026, and lasting into the early morning hours of Monday, March 16, 2026.
The post said Mississippi could experience severe storms, damaging winds up to 70 mph, quarter-size hail and possible tornadoes. The warning covers the whole state and urges residents to monitor conditions closely.
Spring is a peak season for severe weather in the Southeast, when clashes of warm, humid air and cooler systems can produce storms capable of producing damaging winds, hail and tornadoes. The post advised people to stay weather-aware, have multiple ways to receive alerts and know their safe place in case warnings are issued.
Local emergency managers and the National Weather Service typically issue watches and warnings and provide sheltering guidance during such events. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
