Old ice storm video resurfaces as weekend ice forecast prompts caution
A Facebook reel showing footage from a previous ice storm has resurfaced online with a warning as icy conditions are predicted for the coming weekend. The post’s caption reads: “This is an old video from a few years back… however the truth remains the same. With icy conditions predicted for the weekend ahead. Stay cautious and stay home if possible!”
While the clip appears to be from an earlier event, the safety message it conveys is timely when winter weather threatens. Ice storms can create slick roads, downed tree limbs and power outages, making travel hazardous and disrupting daily life.
Officials typically advise residents to avoid nonessential travel, allow extra time for any trips and keep an emergency kit with water, food and a charged phone. Motorists should watch for black ice, drive slowly and give plows and emergency vehicles plenty of room.
Social media often recirculates older weather footage during new storms, which can be useful for illustrating potential risks but may not reflect current local conditions. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
