National Weather Service warns of possible winter weather
The National Weather Service said in a public notice on Facebook that it is forecasting the possibility of inclement winter weather over the next few days and urged residents to begin preparations now to protect life and property.
The agency advised individuals and families to assemble emergency supplies, including food, water, medications, batteries, flashlights, first-aid supplies and blankets, and to ensure they have multiple ways to receive weather alerts and emergency notifications.
Local authorities and emergency managers also advised following guidance from law enforcement and first responders, avoiding nonessential travel if conditions deteriorate, and checking on family members, neighbors and friends, particularly those who may need extra assistance.
The National Weather Service issues forecasts and warnings to help communities prepare for hazardous weather that can cause power outages, travel disruptions and other safety risks. Officials encouraged early planning to minimize disruptions. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
