Governor Tate Reeves condemned the act, calling it heinous and unacceptable. He directed the Mississippi Department of Public Safety to assist federal law enforcement in the investigation and to pursue state charges as necessary.
Reeves emphasized that such acts of hate will not be tolerated in the state.
