Mississippi human trafficking coordinator joins victims fund committee

Lori Hill, Mississippi’s statewide human trafficking coordinator, has been appointed to the Victims of Human Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation Fund Committee, according to a Facebook post from a state account.

The committee helps develop a strategic plan to coordinate the state’s response to human trafficking and to direct funds and resources to shelters and victim service providers, the post said. Its work is intended to ensure that survivors statewide can access immediate and long-term support.

As statewide human trafficking coordinator, Hill oversees efforts to align law enforcement, social services and nonprofit partners in preventing trafficking and supporting survivors. The coordinator position typically involves working with local agencies, advocacy groups and federal partners to strengthen victim identification, rescue and recovery efforts.

Officials and advocates said appointing experienced coordinators to committees that allocate funds can affect how quickly and effectively services reach survivors. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
