Magee celebrates New Year 2026 with safety reminders

The city of Magee thanks residents, businesses, and visitors for their support as it welcomes 2026, according to a Facebook post from the Magee Police Department.

Officials emphasize celebrating responsibly by avoiding impaired driving and prohibiting celebratory gunfire, which is dangerous and illegal under city ordinance. Discharging bullets into the air can cause serious injury or death, and violators will face enforcement actions.

Fireworks are permitted only within specific hours: from seven days before the holiday through 10 p.m. on the seventh day after. Fireworks are allowed between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m., with extended hours from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Officers will patrol to ensure safety during celebrations, the department said. The police department wishes everyone a safe, healthy, and prosperous New Year.
