An unidentified man, the grandfather of a student, tried to enter Alcorn Central School early this morning without permission, school officials said.
The man was stopped by a school resource officer in the parking lot before entering the building. A struggle ensued when the man allegedly attempted to produce a firearm, prompting the officer to act quickly.
The officer subdued the individual and took him into custody. Additional law enforcement officers arrived to secure the area. Authorities believe this was an isolated incident.
The man was transported to Alcorn County Jail. Officials have not yet released details about possible charges.
