Auditor Shad White discusses Gulf Coast Restoration Fund audit
State Auditor Shad White recently joined the Ricky Matthews Show to discuss his office’s audit of the Gulf Coast Restoration Fund. In a Facebook reel of the program, White said the auditor’s office “tell[s] the truth about how your tax dollars were spent regardless of whether or not it upsets somebody.”
The state auditor’s office conducts independent reviews of public programs and funds to check for compliance, waste and misuse of taxpayer money. Audits are a routine tool for ensuring transparency and accountability in government spending.
The Gulf Coast Restoration Fund is intended to support restoration and recovery projects along the Gulf Coast. Audits of such funds can affect how projects are managed and how public officials prioritize resources for communities and environmental work.
White’s appearance on the Ricky Matthews Show underscores the office’s effort to communicate audit findings to the public. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
