Alcorn Central student’s grandfather detained after unauthorized campus entry
An individual, identified as a student’s grandfather, was detained this morning after entering Alcorn Central School without permission, according to school officials.
The man arrived on campus and was confronted by the school’s resource officer in the parking lot before he could access the building. A struggle ensued when the individual attempted to produce a firearm, but the officer quickly subdued him and took him into custody.
Additional law enforcement officers responded to secure the area. School officials consider the incident isolated. The man was arrested and transported to Alcorn County Jail. Authorities have not released details about charges but say more information will be provided as it becomes available.
