Quadruple Murder Suspect Austin Drummond Captured in Jackson
JACKSON, Tenn. — Fugitive Austin Drummond, 28, was captured Monday night in Jackson, bringing an end to a multi-day manhunt that spanned the Mid-South. Drummond was wanted in connection with the brutal killing of four family members in Dyer County, Tennessee.
He faced multiple felony charges, including four counts of first-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping. A reward of up to $37,000 had been offered for information leading to his arrest, with contributions from both the U.S. Marshals Service and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).
While officials have not disclosed details of the arrest, they confirmed Drummond was taken into custody without incident in Jackson — the area where he was last seen. Authorities had previously warned the public that he was armed and dangerous, urging residents to stay alert.
Drummond has a history of violent offenses. He is expected to be extradited to Dyer County for arraignment in the coming days.
The TBI issued a statement thanking the public for their help: “We appreciate everyone who remained vigilant and shared information during this investigation.”
