Gilead’s Remdesivir Approved by FDA
On Thursday, the Food and Drug Association approved Gilead Sciences’ antiviral COVID-19 treatment drug Remdesivir for official patient use.
The drug has been used since May as it was authorized for emergency use, and the drug is now deemed safe to use on any patient as doctors see fit.
The drug was thrusted back into the spotlight after it was cited as a key part of President Donald Trump’s recovery from the coronavirus.
The drug can now be administered to any patient of the age 12 or older and that is hospitalized.
