Updated COVID-19 Numbers for July 24, 2020
Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting 1,610 new cases of COVID-19 in the state.
Mississippi’s total now stand at 49,663 cases with 1,463 deaths. Of today’s numbers, 28 are in long-term healthcare facilities with 9 resident deaths.
Hospitals continue to fight to resist becoming overwhelmed with virus cases. There are currently 975 Mississippians hospitalized with confirmed cases of the virus and 241 more with suspected cases.
Multiple counties have been put back on certain restrictions due to spikes in cases in those areas in the past month. Some of these include Hinds, Rankin, Madison, and DeSoto counties.
Mississippi remains on a strong upward trend of cases with the spread of the virus largely unchecked. This can be changed by staying home, keeping your distance, wearing a mask in public, and frequent hand washing.
