Treasurer announces the 2025 College and Career Savings Art Contest
Jan 2, 2025- State Treasurer David McRae today announced the 2025 College and Career Savings Art Contest is open now through February 28. Students from Pre-K through 12th Grade are invited to participate in the contest.
Scholarships will be awarded to the first, second, and third place winners in each of the following categories:
- PreK – 2nd Grade
- 3rd Grade – 5th Grade
- 6th Grade – 8th Grade
- 9th Grade – 12th Grade
All first place winners will receive $1,000 scholarships. A $1,000 scholarship will also be awarded to the teacher with the most amount of submissions from their classroom. A grand total of $8,000 in scholarship money will be awarded.
Students can enter the contest by signing up on the State Treasury website and submitting a piece of artwork that answers the question: What do you want to do when you grow up?
“Every year, students from all over the great state of Mississippi submit their beautiful artwork for this contest, and I’m always amazed by the talent,” said McRae. “Over the years, the College and Career Savings team has provided thousands of scholarships to talented students to continue to pursue their passions. I’m looking forward to this year’s contest and seeing what these gifted students are able to create!”
The winners in each category will receive a Mississippi Affordable College Savings (MACS) account scholarship. This account operates like a tax-advantaged savings account. The funds can be used for almost any educational expense – from laptops to vocational education to classroom supplies for teachers.
