Jan 8, 2025-Gov. Tate Reeves has signed a proclamation directing all flags of the State of Mississippi be flown at half-staff on all buildings and grounds in Mississippi beginning at sunrise and ending at sunset on Thursday, Jan. 9 in memory of Nikyra Dedeaux, and on Friday, Jan. 17, in memory of Matthew Tenedorio. Both Jan. 9 and Jan. 17 will be days of mourning for the loss of these two Mississippians.
“Mississippi mourns the loss of Nikyra, Matthew, and the 12 other Americans who lost their lives in the terror attack in New Orleans,” said Reeves. “Nikyra and Matthew were loved by their friends, family, and their state. We continue to stand with our friends in Louisiana, and will continue to pray for the victims and their families. Mississippi will never forget them.”
Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry also issued an executive order declaring a period of mourning and lowering the flags from Monday, Jan. 6 through Friday, Jan. 17 in remembrance of those who lost their life in the terror attack.
