Officer-involved shooting in Columbia

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting involving the Marion County Sheriff’s Department that occurred on Tuesday, May 23 at approximately 4:30 p.m. near 4665 Highway 35 in Columbia, Mississippi.  

Deputies were attempting to serve a warrant when the subject presented a weapon towards the deputies. The subject received fatal injuries. No deputies were injured in this incident.  

MBI is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.v
