Multiple Mobile Home Fires Under Investigation in Lauderdale County; Suspect Arrested for Arson

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, MISS. — Authorities are investigating a string of mobile home fires that occurred over three consecutive days in the Zero community, leading to the arrest of a suspect on arson charges.

Fire crews from Long Creek, Clarkdale, and Southeast Volunteer Fire Departments responded to structure fires at the same mobile home on Johnson Lane late Friday night, June 13, at 11:10 p.m., and again on Saturday morning, June 14, at 9:27 a.m. In both cases, firefighters were able to extinguish the blazes.

On Sunday, June 15, at 12:46 p.m., a separate mobile home in the same block caught fire. Witnesses reported seeing a white male exiting the home just before smoke was spotted. Deputies from the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department quickly located and arrested Joshua Mark Davis nearby.

Davis was found to have outstanding warrants for two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and a Probation Violation. He now faces an additional charge of Arson related to Sunday’s fire. He is currently held at the Lauderdale County Detention Facility without bond.

The earlier two fires remain under investigation, and the case will be presented to the next Lauderdale County grand jury.
