Former Centreville Police Officer Arrested for Alleged Embezzlement
CENTREVILLE, Miss. – State Auditor Shad White announced today the arrest of former Centreville Police Officer Patrick Harris, who is accused of embezzling town property by selling department-issued firearms to a pawn shop.
According to investigators, Harris allegedly pawned his service pistol, then later took two additional pistols from the department’s evidence room and sold those as well.
“We have zero tolerance for thievery of taxpayer dollars, big or small,” said White. “We will continue to work with prosecutors to ensure public money and property are protected.”
If convicted, Harris faces up to 20 years in prison and $5,000 in fines. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
