Mississippi caregiver charged with exploiting an elderly disabled victim
A Mississippi caregiver is charged with Exploitation of a Vulnerable Adult after she was arrested and accused ot taking a large sum of money from an elderly disabled victim.
On May 4th, 2020, the Lee County Sheriff’s Department executed an arrest warrant for Exploitation of a Vulnerable Adult at a residence in the Mt. Vernon area. The Lee County Sheriff’s Department was contacted by Adult Protective Services in reference to a possible Exploitation case.
With their help, we were able to build a case and levy charges against the suspect that had been hired to take care of the victim. The suspect is accused of taking a large sum of money from an elderly disabled victim for her personal use.
This has been a joint investigation that spanned numerous months and ended with an arrest and the protection of a vulnerable adult. Bond was set by Lee County Justice Court Judge Chuck Hopkins at 75,000.00 dollars. All evidence will be presented to the next Lee County Grand Jury.
