Man shot in Meridian officer-involved shooting
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is investigating an officer involved shooting involving the Meridian Police Department that occurred on Tuesday morning, May 16, at approximately 10:30 a.m. near Bonita Lakes Drive in Meridian.
Officers from Meridian Police Department were responding to a call of a subject barricaded inside a residence when the subject presented a weapon toward the officers. No officer was injured, and the subject did receive fatal injuries.
MBI is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
WTOK-TV reported the shooting took place at Meridian Living, an assisted living facility and that the man was living at the facility, threatening people on the third flood with a gun.
