Warm temperatures persist across area this week
Conditions will remain seasonably warm across the area through this week, with highs 15-20 degrees above normal and lows 15-25 degrees above normal, Darkhorse Press said Monday.
Those departures are relative to long-term averages for this time of year and indicate markedly milder weather than typically expected in early March. Local meteorologists and news outlets often report departures from normal to help residents understand how a forecast compares with historical conditions.
Unusually warm stretches can affect energy demand, outdoor plans, agriculture and winter recreation. Warmer-than-normal nights can also influence plant development, allergy cycles and local snowpack where applicable. Residents planning travel or outdoor activities should consult local forecasts for timing of the warmest days and any related weather changes.
