The City of Vicksburg urged residents to monitor official resources for updates as severe winter weather is expected this weekend, the city said in a Facebook post.
The post listed verified links for up-to-date information, including City of Vicksburg Alerts, the U.S. National Weather Service in Jackson, the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, the Mississippi Department of Transportation, the Warren County Emergency Management Agency, the Mississippi Department of Public Safety and Entergy’s outage map.
Local and state agencies provide different types of information that can help residents prepare. The National Weather Service issues forecasts and warnings; emergency management agencies coordinate sheltering and response; transportation officials report road conditions and closures; and utility outage maps show power interruptions.
City officials encouraged residents to review and share the resources to keep fellow Vicksburg residents informed and prepared, saying, “Stay safe, Vicksburg.” We will provide more information as it becomes available.
