Vicksburg officer Knight wins 2026 Officer of the Year

The Vicksburg Police Department said on Facebook that Officer Edward Knight was named the 2026 Officer of the Year at an Officer of the Year Banquet hosted “last night” by the Vicksburg Homecoming Benevolent Club.

The department said the banquet honored first responders from across Warren County and Vicksburg, including the Vicksburg Police Department, Vicksburg Fire Department, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office and the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

The post identified Officer Edward Knight and Investigator Lee Williams as the VPD nominees and said Knight also received the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award from the American Legion. The department did not provide further details in the post.

The Vicksburg Police Department said Chief Burns served as the event’s guest speaker and delivered remarks about leadership, service and the responsibilities that accompany the badge.

Community awards like these recognize local first responders for their service and can strengthen ties between agencies and residents. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
