Vicksburg Chief Burns attends New Chiefs’ Orientation
Chief Burns attended a state-required New Chiefs’ Orientation last week, the Vicksburg Police Department said in a post on its Facebook page. The department said the orientation must be completed within a newly appointed chief’s first year.
The department said the program provides training, resources and opportunities to collaborate with law enforcement leaders across the state. Such orientations are designed to help newly appointed chiefs build leadership skills, learn administrative standards and connect with peers who oversee policing in other jurisdictions.
The Vicksburg Police Department is the municipal law enforcement agency that serves the city of Vicksburg. Department officials said participation in state orientation programs can help local agencies align with statewide practices and support efforts to improve public safety and community policing.
Details about the specific sessions Chief Burns attended or how the training will be applied locally were not included in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
