Two arrested, third sought in Pearl River County drive-by shooting

PEARL RIVER COUNTY, Miss. — Two people have been arrested and a third is being sought in connection with a drive-by shooting that sent a man with a gunshot wound to Highland Hospital, the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies responded Feb. 9, 2026, after the male victim arrived at the hospital, the sheriff’s office said. Investigators later determined the shooting occurred near the intersection of Mississippi Highway 53 and Barth Road in Poplarville.

The sheriff’s office identified Austyn Reynolds as the suspected gunman and said a Nissan Altima was the suspected vehicle. Michelle Rogers was identified as an accomplice who allegedly helped Reynolds try to evade law enforcement after the shooting, officials said.

In a coordinated effort with the Bogalusa Police Department, Reynolds and Rogers were taken into custody without incident, the sheriff’s office said. Investigators said Shyanne Thibodeaux also assisted Reynolds and Rogers in evading officers. An arrest warrant remains outstanding for Thibodeaux.

Reynolds was charged with drive-by shooting under Mississippi Code Section 97-3-109(1). Rogers was charged with accessory after the fact to drive-by shooting under Mississippi Code Section 97-1-5(1)(a)(i), and Thibodeaux faces an outstanding warrant on the same charge, officials said.

Sheriff David Allison thanked the Bogalusa Police Department and the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance and said deputies and investigators worked to resolve what he described as a violent crime. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
