Truck damages utility pole, causes outages on Highway 6 East

Thursday, Feb. 5 — A truck hung a line and broke a utility pole near Ray Parker’s on Highway 6 East, causing outages along the highway to the Sizzler and Campground Road areas, according to a Facebook post.

The post said the damage will interrupt service for customers and could affect both homes and businesses along the corridor. It did not identify the utility company involved or provide an estimate for service restoration.

Utility poles carry electrical and communications lines, and damage from vehicle collisions can create power outages, downed lines and public safety hazards. Local utility crews typically must secure the scene, replace or repair the pole and reattach lines before service can be restored, which can take several hours depending on the extent of the damage.

Motorists should expect possible traffic delays and use caution if traveling in the area while crews work. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
