Starkville Police welcome three new officers

Chief Mark Ballard and the Starkville Police Department on social media welcomed Officers Dylan Brower, Zachary Corbo and John Stewart to the department after they were sworn in by Mayor Lynn Spruill, the department said in a Facebook post.

The swearing-in ceremony formally authorizes the new officers to carry out law enforcement duties in Starkville, Mississippi, a city that serves as home to Mississippi State University and whose police department is responsible for public safety across the city.

Police chiefs and mayors commonly preside over such ceremonies to mark the transition from recruit status to fully commissioned officer. New officers typically join patrol, community policing and other departmental assignments aimed at maintaining public safety and responding to resident needs.

The Facebook post did not provide additional details about training assignments or duty locations. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
