Starkville police arrest three in Sonic Drive-In shooting

The Starkville Police Department said it arrested three people in connection with a Jan. 18 shooting at a Sonic Drive-In at 913 Highway 12 West.

On Sunday, Jan. 18, police arrested 16-year-old Demarion Brand of Starkville and charged him with aggravated assault, the department said. On Monday, Jan. 19, officers arrested 19-year-old Jakobe George of Sturgis and charged him with attempted murder. The department also arrested 40-year-old Shana Ferguson of Sturgis and charged her with accessory after the fact to attempted murder.

The department said Brand and George knew each other before the incident and were involved in an altercation. The Sonic Drive-In is a national fast-food chain; the incident occurred at the restaurant on Highway 12 West in Starkville, Mississippi.

The investigation remains active, the department said.
