Starkville officers earn CPR, first aid certification after hospital training

The Starkville Police Department said on Facebook that its newest officers have completed CPR certification and first aid training after instruction from Kathleen Hilbun, trauma director at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Oktibbeha County.

The department thanked Hilbun for conducting the training and said the certifications will better prepare officers to respond in medical emergencies. Law enforcement officers are often among the first on scene in critical incidents, and basic life-saving skills can bridge the time until paramedics arrive.

Starkville Police Department is the primary local law enforcement agency for Starkville, Mississippi. Baptist Memorial Hospital-Oktibbeha County is a regional medical center that provides emergency and trauma services to residents of Oktibbeha County and surrounding areas.

The training underscores ongoing partnerships between police agencies and local hospitals to improve public safety and emergency response. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
