Southaven police join Desoto Central Elementary Career Day
The Southaven Police Department said on Facebook that officers took part in Desoto Central Elementary’s annual Career Day, praising students’ curiosity and enthusiasm as they asked questions and explored possible futures.
In a post, the department said it was “exciting to see the enthusiasm as students ask questions and think about their future,” and added, “These kids have BIG DREAMS, and we are proud to encourage them to keep chasing them!” The post did not provide further details about the event.
Career Day events are common in elementary schools and aim to introduce children to a variety of professions, help them understand community roles and spark early interest in different careers. For law enforcement agencies, participation also serves as community outreach to build positive relationships with young residents and demystify police work.
The Southaven Police Department is the city’s law enforcement agency and regularly engages in school and community programs, according to its social media communications. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
