Southaven police attend Easter celebration at Desoto Central High
Southaven Police Department said in a Facebook post that officers were invited to participate in an Easter celebration hosted by Vania Naomi Franklin, a Community Based Classroom teacher, for the “Super Jags” CBC students at Desoto Central High School.
The post said festivities included an Easter egg hunt and a dance party in the gym, followed by lunch and an Easter basket exchange.
Southaven Police Department is the municipal law enforcement agency for Southaven, Mississippi, and often takes part in school and community events as part of its outreach efforts, the post said.
Desoto Central High School is part of the DeSoto County School District. CBC refers to Community Based Classroom, a school-based program referenced in the post; the department did not provide further detail about the program in its Facebook message.
Events such as holiday celebrations offer opportunities for students, school staff and public safety agencies to interact outside of official duties, supporting community ties and student engagement. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
