Sheriff Johnson swears in two deputies

Sheriff Jim H. Johnson said in a Facebook post that he swore in two of the sheriff’s newest deputies: Deputy Lexi Griggs and Deputy Alex Collins.

According to Johnson, upon completion of the academy and the Field Training Program, Deputy Griggs will be assigned to the Patrol Division and Deputy Collins will be assigned to the Youth Services Division. The Patrol Division typically handles routine patrols, emergency response and traffic enforcement, while youth services units generally focus on interactions with juveniles, school outreach and prevention programs.

New deputies usually complete classroom training at a law enforcement academy followed by a period of on-the-job instruction paired with experienced officers in a field training program. Those steps are intended to prepare recruits for the responsibilities and community-facing duties of patrol and specialty assignments.

Johnson said the office is proud to welcome the two deputies and looks forward to their impact in the community. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
