Reeves provides update on winter storm

Gov. Tate Reeves provided an update on a winter storm in a Facebook post, his office said. The post offered the latest information available from state officials about weather-related conditions affecting Mississippi.

As governor, Reeves coordinates the state’s response to severe weather through agencies such as the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency and the state Department of Transportation. Those agencies typically monitor conditions, issue travel advisories and work with local officials to direct resources where they are needed.

Winter storms can produce hazardous roads, power outages and disruptions to schools and businesses. Residents in affected areas are generally advised to limit travel, prepare for potential utility interruptions and follow guidance from local emergency managers and utility providers.

Details in the Facebook post were limited. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
