Rankin County sheriff’s office mourns death of Jackson County deputy

Rankin County Sheriff’s Department said in a Facebook post that it is saddened by the loss of Deputy Michael Jimerson of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and that it mourns alongside colleagues and other law enforcement officers across Mississippi and the nation.

Both Rankin and Jackson county sheriff’s offices are county law enforcement agencies that provide public safety, criminal investigations and community services to residents of their respective jurisdictions in Mississippi. The departments did not provide additional information about Jimerson’s death in the brief post.

The death of a deputy typically reverberates through local communities and the wider law enforcement community, prompting expressions of sympathy, support for the officer’s family and colleagues, and often formal tributes or memorials.
