Rankin County Sheriff’s Department offices closed Jan. 19 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day
The administrative offices of the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department will be closed Monday, Jan. 19, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The department, which serves a community south of Jackson, Mississippi, will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20.
Rankin County officials typically observe federal holidays, and closures include administrative functions such as record-keeping and community outreach services. However, the department’s patrol division will continue operating as scheduled throughout the holiday, ensuring public safety and emergency response.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a national holiday honoring the civil rights leader known for his work in advancing racial equality through nonviolent protest. Many local government offices and organizations observe the day with closures or events recognizing his legacy.
