Rankin County reports $6 billion, $225 million economic investments

Rankin County reports two major economic development projects in the last six months, including investments of $6 billion and $225 million, a Facebook post said.

The post, which highlighted the two projects but provided no further details, said, “This is Rankin County’s time!” The announcement did not identify project backers, locations or timelines.

Rankin County is in central Mississippi and is part of the Jackson metropolitan area. Local leaders and economic development officials commonly pursue large-scale projects to expand the tax base, increase job opportunities and fund infrastructure improvements.

Large investments of this scale can affect housing demand, transportation planning and local services, and they often involve negotiations over incentives and permitting. Because the initial post offered limited information, local residents and businesses may watch for formal announcements from county officials, developers or state economic agencies. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
