Rankin County deputies search for missing man Derek McLeod

RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. — Rankin County deputies are searching for 50-year-old Charles ‘Derek’ McLeod Jr., who was reported missing by his parents after his wallet was found in Ridgeland and returned to the family, the sheriff’s department said.

McLeod, who was last seen by family during Thanksgiving 2025 at 107 Bailey Avenue in Pearl, has not been answering phone calls or text messages, the sheriff’s department said. He worked for a carpentry business in Ridgeland as recently as January 2026, the department added.

The sheriff’s department said McLeod does not have a known vehicle. Ridgeland and Pearl are suburbs of Jackson in central Mississippi.

Anyone with information about McLeod’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department at 601-825-1480 or their local law enforcement agency. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
