Rankin County deputies provide traffic safety briefing at East Rankin Academy
The Rankin County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that deputies visited East Rankin Academy on Wednesday to present information on traffic safety to students.
Staff Sgt. Demetrius Hayes provided the students, known as the Patriots, with guidance as many prepare to earn their driver’s licenses and begin driving independently, the post said.
The visit is part of routine community outreach by the sheriff’s office aimed at promoting safe driving habits among young people. Law enforcement agencies frequently work with schools to reinforce traffic laws, encourage seat belt use and discuss safe decision-making behind the wheel.
East Rankin Academy is a private school that serves students in Rankin County. Traffic safety presentations can help reduce crashes and improve awareness for novice drivers as they gain experience on local roads. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
