Rankin County deputies brief scouts on traffic safety
RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. — The Rankin County Sheriff’s Office thanked Boy Scouts of America Troop 416 after SSgt. Demetrius Hayes spoke to the troop about traffic safety at a meeting Thursday, the office said on Facebook.
The sheriff’s office said Hayes provided supplementary information on traffic safety to build on what the scouts had been learning over a couple of weeks. The post included a photo from the meeting and expressed appreciation to the troop for the invitation.
The Rankin County Sheriff’s Office conducts community outreach and safety education to help reduce crashes and keep residents safe, officials said. Traffic safety presentations for young people typically cover topics such as pedestrian awareness, bicycle safety and safe behavior near roadways, and law enforcement agencies often partner with local youth groups to reinforce those lessons.
Details in the sheriff’s office post were limited. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
