Pike County Sheriff’s Office issues public relations notice

Pike County Sheriff’s Office officials issued a brief public relations notice Tuesday, the agency said. The notice, provided by the Pike County Sheriff’s Office Public Relations Department, included the hashtag #ServiceBeforeSelf but did not include additional details.

The sheriff’s office is typically responsible for law enforcement, jail operations, court security and serving civil processes in its jurisdiction. Sheriff’s offices across the country often use brief releases and social media posts to alert residents to public-safety information, upcoming community events or operational updates.

Local law enforcement communications can affect public safety by informing residents about road closures, emergencies, investigations or community outreach. The short release did not specify which of those areas it addressed, limiting what can be reported at this time.

The release was posted on the agency’s public communications channel and attributed to the public relations department. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
