Pike County sheriff issues missing child alert update
The Pike County Sheriff’s Office issued an update on a missing child alert on Facebook, the department’s Public Relations Department said.
The post did not include details such as the child’s identity, age, circumstances or location, and offered no additional information beyond the notification, the department said.
Pike County sheriff’s offices serve as the primary law enforcement agency for their counties, responding to emergencies, conducting investigations and coordinating public notifications when children are reported missing. Missing-child alerts are typically time-sensitive and rely on rapid information sharing with the public and other agencies to increase the chance of a safe recovery.
Investigators often seek tips from the public and may coordinate with neighboring agencies or state and national alert systems as appropriate, the department said. Residents with information are asked to contact the Pike County Sheriff’s Office or local law enforcement. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
