Pedestrian struck near Jackson State University; Capitol Police investigate
JACKSON — A pedestrian was injured after being struck by a vehicle Friday night near the intersection of Evergreen Avenue and University Boulevard, Mississippi Capitol Police said.
Officers responded to the scene at about 8:46 p.m. March 26 and found an individual in the roadway who had been hit by a vehicle, Capitol Police said. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital.
Authorities did not immediately release the person’s condition or identity. Investigators have not said whether the driver remained at the scene, and Capitol Police described the case as an open and ongoing investigation, declining further comment.
The intersection is near the campus of Jackson State University, a public university in Jackson. Pedestrian-vehicle collisions often prompt investigations to determine factors such as driver behavior, lighting and roadway conditions.
