Parade ends, route reopens to traffic
Organizers of the Second Liners Mardi Gras Club said on Facebook that the parade has ended and the route in downtown has reopened to traffic.
The club had closed the parade route area earlier for its Second Liners Mardi Gras Club parade, drawing participants and spectators to the downtown corridor for a community celebration. The Facebook update announced that the event concluded and normal vehicle access resumed.
Second-line parades are a longstanding part of Mardi Gras-related traditions, typically featuring brass bands, dancing and a procession of participants and onlookers. Such events often require temporary street closures to ensure public safety and to allow performers and crowds to move along the route.
The reopening of the route restores access for commuters, local businesses and emergency vehicles and begins the process of street cleanup and return to normal activity. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
