Oxford police host Light Up the Night to boost headlight safety
Oxford Police Department thanked residents for attending its Light Up the Night event, saying in a Facebook post that the effort helped drivers brighten their headlights for safer nighttime driving.
The department said the event, which had been rescheduled because of winter weather, allowed officers and staff to meet members of the community while providing basic vehicle safety assistance. The post emphasized appreciation for those who stopped by and spent a few minutes with the department.
The Oxford Police Department provides law enforcement services for the city of Oxford, Mississippi, and routinely holds community outreach activities intended to build relationships and promote public safety. Properly functioning headlights improve visibility on dark roads and can help reduce the risk of nighttime crashes, officials said in general safety guidance.
