Officials lift precautionary boil water notice for areas affected Jan. 29

A precautionary boil water notice instituted Jan. 29, 2026, has been lifted effective immediately, a Facebook post said. The post said the change applies to the referenced areas identified in the notice and asked residents to follow recommended steps from the Mississippi Department of Health.

Boil water notices are precautionary advisories issued when a communitys water supply may have been compromised — commonly after events such as water main breaks, pressure losses or other incidents that can allow contaminants to enter the distribution system. The advisories aim to protect public health until testing confirms water safety.

The lifted notice removes the immediate advisory for the affected areas, but the Facebook post urged residents to follow the Mississippi Department of Healths guidance linked in the message. That guidance typically covers whether water should be boiled or bottled water used and any additional precautions consumers should take.

Residents unsure whether their address is included should consult the linked notice or contact their local water utility or public health department for clarification. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
