Ocean Springs joins March of the Mayors canned food drive
OCEAN SPRINGS, Mississippi — Ocean Springs officials said the city is taking part in the March of the Mayors, a statewide canned food drive coordinated by Extra Table to support local food pantries.
The city is collecting canned fruit now through Feb. 27. Residents may drop off donations at any Ocean Springs fire station or at city hall, city officials said in a Facebook post.
Extra Table has coordinated municipal collection efforts in past campaigns to direct donated goods to area food pantries and hunger-relief programs. Local drives such as March of the Mayors aim to bolster pantry shelves, especially during periods of increased need.
City officials encouraged residents to contribute and noted that community donations help neighbors facing food insecurity. This effort gives residents a straightforward way to help by donating nonperishable items at convenient locations. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
