MSEMA says FEMA has not approved individual assistance
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said Friday that the Federal Emergency Management Agency has not approved Individual Assistance for storm-affected residents and that FEMA is still reviewing the state’s application.
MSEMA posted the update on its Facebook page and said Public Assistance is currently available for 38 counties across the state. Public Assistance typically helps state, local and tribal governments and certain nonprofit organizations pay for emergency work and to repair damage to public infrastructure.
Individual Assistance, if approved by FEMA, generally provides support to individuals and households for housing, essential needs and other direct aid following a disaster. Because Individual Assistance has not been approved, residents seeking direct federal help for personal losses should monitor official updates from MSEMA and FEMA.
MSEMA directed residents to its website, https://www.msema.org/, for more information and resources. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
