Mississippi emergency agency asks residents to report winter storm damage

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency is asking residents of north Mississippi who were affected by recent winter weather to self-report any damage, the agency said in a Facebook post.

Self-reporting helps officials develop a clearer picture of the overall extent of damage across the state and can guide resource allocation and recovery planning, agency officials said. The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency coordinates the state’s response to disasters and works with local governments and federal partners to identify needs after severe weather.

Residents can report damage online by visiting https://www.msema.org/report-damage and following the prompts on the site. The agency urged anyone who has not yet submitted information to do so so officials can better assess needs and prioritize assistance.

Officials did not provide additional details about the scope of damage in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
