Mississippi Department of Public Safety posts Valentine’s Day safety message

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety said in a Facebook post on Valentine’s Day that its officers are on duty, working to keep the state safe for residents and visitors.

The department posted a short message that read, “Roses are red, violets are blue… MDPS is on duty, keeping Mississippi safe for you. Happy Valentine’s Day!” and included a reference to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

MDPS oversees the Mississippi Highway Patrol and other public safety functions, including traffic enforcement and emergency response across the state. Agencies such as MDPS commonly use social media to remind the public about safety and to reassure motorists that troopers are patrolling roads during holidays.

The message is part of routine public outreach ahead of a holiday that often brings increased travel and calls for road-safety precautions. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
